Significant Institutional Landowners

1872: 22 of the colleges of Cambridge University and the university owned a total of 33,837 acres, with Downing College the largest landowner with 7381 acres. The Church Commissioners owned 4748 acres but the Church of England, with 16,544 acres, was the largest individual institutional landowner.
